Help with a claim

Claims are filed with your insurance company. Our role is to help you understand the process, prepare what you need, and reach the right people.

If this is a medical emergency, call 911. Emergency care does not wait for a claim, and your coverage does not require prior approval in an emergency.

How the claims process works

  1. 1Contact your insurance company firstClaims are always filed with and decided by the insurance company that issued your policy, not by our agency. Their member services number is on your ID card and in your plan documents.
  2. 2Have your basic details readyYour full name, date of birth, the name of the insurance company, and the date of the service or event. Keep any letters or statements you have received nearby.
  3. 3Write down who you spoke toNote the date, the name of the representative, and any reference number they give you. This makes follow-up far easier.
  4. 4Tell us how it wentIf you are stuck, unsure what a letter means, or a claim has been denied, let us know. We can help you understand the next step and point you to the right department.

What we can and cannot do

We can

  • • Explain what your plan documents say in plain language.
  • • Help you find the right phone number or department.
  • • Talk you through an explanation of benefits or a denial letter.
  • • Help you understand your appeal rights and deadlines.

We cannot

  • • File, approve, deny, or pay a claim — only the insurance company can.
  • • Guarantee a claim outcome or a payment amount.
  • • Provide medical, tax, or legal advice.
  • • Change the terms of your policy.
