Health & ACA Coverage

Health coverage that matches how your household actually lives

Comprehensive plans, Marketplace options, and the extras that sit alongside them.

Health insurance is easier to choose when someone explains what the copay, deductible and network actually mean for you. We help individuals, families and self-employed people across Tampa Bay compare their options.

Who this is for

If you do not get coverage through an employer — or the coverage you are offered does not fit your household — the individual market and the ACA Marketplace are where most people look.

The right plan depends on which doctors you want to keep, which prescriptions you take, how often you expect to use care, and what you can comfortably pay each month. We start there rather than with a plan name.

  • You are shopping for your own or your family's medical coverage.
  • You are self-employed or between jobs.
  • You have lost, or are about to lose, other coverage.
  • You are reviewing your plan during annual enrollment.
  • You want to add dental, vision or supplemental coverage.

Had a life change recently? It may affect what you can enroll in right now.

Consultations are offered at no cost and without obligation. Submitting a form does not enroll you in coverage.

Situations that often prompt a coverage change

Some of these may open a Special Enrollment Period. Whether any particular situation qualifies depends on current rules and your circumstances, so it is worth checking rather than assuming either way.

Losing employer-sponsored coverage

Leaving a job, a reduction in hours, or a plan ending can each change what is available to you. Losing other coverage is one of the situations that may open a Special Enrollment Period, depending on current rules.

Moving to Florida

Plans and networks are local. A plan that worked in another state generally does not follow you, and a permanent move may allow you to enroll outside Open Enrollment if you qualify.

Marriage or divorce

A change in household can change both what coverage you need and what you may be eligible for. It is worth reviewing rather than leaving an old plan in place by default.

Having or adopting a child

Adding a child to a plan is time-sensitive. Depending on the rules in effect, this may allow a change outside the annual enrollment window.

Becoming self-employed

Without a group plan behind you, individual and Marketplace coverage becomes the main route. Disability coverage is also worth a look when your income depends entirely on your ability to work.

Annual Marketplace enrollment

Plans, premiums and networks change from year to year. Reviewing your plan during Open Enrollment helps you avoid being renewed into something that no longer fits.

About Marketplace savings

The Marketplace exists so that individuals, families and small businesses can compare plans in one place, see whether any savings are available to them, and find out whether anyone in the household may be eligible for Medicaid or CHIP.

Eligibility for a premium tax credit or other savings depends on factors such as household details, income, location, what other coverage is available to you, and the rules in effect when you apply. We can help you understand how the process works, but no one can promise you a particular outcome in advance.

An ACA enrollment checklist is being prepared and will be published in a later phase, so you can gather what you need before you apply.
